A San Diego summer tradition on the shores of Mission Bay, the annual Sunset Luaus are a festive celebration of Polynesian food, music, and dances perfect for family and friends. The memorable luau experience includes a lei, welcome Mai Tai, all-you-can-eat buffet, an activity bag for kids, and live entertainment. Local luau group Pride of Polynesia provides authentic island music and dance, featuring hula and fiery torch dancers.

  • Great food, drinks, and dance performances!

    I am local but just visited the summer event of Luau the Hawaiian dance and buffet. It was outside setting tables and buffet and dance performances stage. It was quite nice, great food and drinks and dance performances stage.

  • Great location

    We have been going to the Catamaran every year and sometimes multiple times a year since 2017. You cannot beat the location. It’s walking distance to many restaurants the bay and the beach. Every time we go, we feel like we’re in Hawaii without the long plane ride. They have luaus in the summer, which is a must and plenty of activities for the kids to do. The rooms have been renovated and are nicely appointed

  • Our 5 Year Old Loved the Luau!

    We had a fantastic family vacation at the Catamaran. There were lots of things for kids to see and do, from the macaws to koi ponds, pool, arcade, quiet beach, etc. We had several nice meals on the patio and our 5 year old loved the Luau. Beautiful views from the rooms, close to the beach and boardwalk, can walk to restaurants on the bay path. Would definitely stay here again.

  • You will love your stay!

    We had an all-ages family reunion at this lovely hotel. It was truly perfect. Pool, bay, and beach provided fun for all. Our rooms had all been recently refurbished and were lovely. We used the fabulous Luau (as good as any in Hawaii) as our communal party. The staff at this hotel is the nicest of any hotel we have ever stayed in.

  • The luau was amazing!

    My husband and I stayed here for a week with our toddler. We loved it. Very laid-back family friendly vibe with many conveniences. The fish, birds, turtles, sandy beach and pool were all hits with my toddler. I enjoyed the convenient coffee shop, bar, restaurant and room service. The food was great all around. The staff was friendly and helpful. The luau was amazing too.
