Catamaran Partners with Local Non-Profit and Dog Fitness Guru for Yappy Hour Kickoff

May 2018

Downward dog is taking on a whole new meaning at the Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa, which is partnering with Pacific Beach-based Second Chance Dog Rescue and Leash Your Fitness to kick off its weekly Yappy Hour series on Tuesday, May 8 from 6-8 p.m.

San Diego’s revered dog and human fitness instructor, Dawn Celapino of Leash Your Fitness, will begin the yappy hour with a guided dog yoga class on the Catamaran’s lawn at 6 p.m. The hour-long class, which combines walking and practicing good pooch and owner posture, balance and stretching, does not have an admission fee.

Instead, the Catamaran is requesting that participants bring a donation, such as puppy pads, collars, harnesses, toys and dog beds, to benefit the pups at Second Chance Dog Rescue. A complete list of requested donations can be found below.

“The inaugural Yappy Hour at the Catamaran is just one example of Evans Hotels’ commitment to supporting the great work of local non-profit organizations through our WE CARE initiatives,” said Ilsa Butler, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Evans Hotels. “Evans Hotels is of the community and for the community, and with puppy season in full swing, there’s no better time to donate much-needed supplies to Second Chance Pet Rescue.”

After the class, participants and their pooches will be treated to both human and doggy treats until 8 p.m. during an extended yappy hour at Moray’s at the Catamaran. Specialty cocktails, including Greyhounds and Salty Dogs, will be available for a lean $5.50 and select appetizers will be reduced to $10. Draft beer, well drinks and house wine will also be available for a discount.

Future yappy hours will take place at Moray’s at the Catamaran each Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. and will include drink and food specials, but no yoga.

Supplies requested by Second Chance Dog Rescue for the May 8 Yappy Hour includes:

  • Puppy Pads

  • Grain Free Adult dog food (no open bags)
  • Puppy Food (no open bags)
