Jingle Belle Family Cruise Partners with Mama’s Kitchen

November 2023

San Diego, CA – Gather with friends and family and make merry this holiday season aboard the Jingle Belle Family Cruise (December 21-25), a San Diego tradition on the sparkling waters of Mission Bay. A memorable way to “Fa la la” this winter, guests can enjoy the majestic setting of the William D. Evans, an elegant 19th-century-style sternwheeler decked in holiday lights and décor and explore a jolly mix of activities for guests of all ages. In the spirit of the season, a portion of the proceeds from Jingle Belle cruises will benefit Mama’s Kitchen, a San Diego nonprofit that provides medically tailored meals to individuals and families at risk of malnutrition due to critical illnesses, including HIV, cancer, congestive heart failure, type 2 diabetes, and chronic kidney disease.

“We’re honored to be partnering with such a revered San Diego nonprofit organization,” said Robert Gleason, President and CEO of Evans Hotels. “Giving back to the community is at the core of our WE CARE corporate social responsibility program, and we hope to nourish and brighten the lives of many San Diegans in need this holiday season through our donation to Mama’s Kitchen.”

The Jingle Belle Cruise is a festive, one-hour family friendly voyage that celebrates the most wonderful time of year with joyous songs from carolers strolling throughout the ship, a meet and greet and photos with Santa Claus, and exciting interactive activities for the whole family. Kids can enjoy a cookie decorating station, balloon artist, and face painter. There will also be tasty holiday treats and libations including hot cocoa with toppings and an espresso coffee bar.

Jingle Belle Cruise departs from the Bahia Resort Hotel on December 21 at 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., December 23 at 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., and December 25 at 9:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The cruises depart from the Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa on December 22 at 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., December 24 at 4:30 p.m., and December 25 at 10:15 a.m. and 6:15 p.m. As a special treat for dining guests at the Bahia and Catamaran, the Christmas Day cruise is included with the purchase of Christmas Day Brunch or dinner at Oceana Coastal Kitchen and Dockside 1953.

ABOUT MAMA’S KITCHEN

Mama's Kitchen was established in 1990 by a San Diego caregiver who enlisted volunteers to prepare and deliver free meals to neighbors who were sick with HIV/AIDS and unable to cook for themselves. The organization realized that a reliable home-delivered meal service was needed to ensure that these individuals would continue to receive nutritious, life-sustaining food. Since then, the organization has expanded its Medically Tailored Meal Service program to other at-risk populations including those battling cancer (2006), individuals with heart failure and diabetes (2018), and individuals with chronic kidney disease (2020). Beyond medically tailored meals, clients also receive nutritional counseling from registered dietitians. In 2022, the organization delivered its 11 millionth meal.

For 33 years, Mama’s Kitchen has never turned away a client who qualified for its services. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization responded to an overall 50 percent increase in demand. Mama’s Kitchen continues to provide emergency response efforts, nutrition education services, and more than 816,000 home-delivered medically tailored meals to more than 2,600 individuals and families in San Diego County annually. Mama’s Kitchen is San Diego’s largest provider of delivered meals and the only provider of medically tailored nutrition. Learn more and make a donation at www.mamaskitchen.org.
